Fish tumor removal →
So you can remove tumors from your fish. It’s not for the lighthearted, though, and that goes for the pictures in the link as well.

The Forever Stamp is ugly, no matter how you spin...
“The Liberty Bell is an icon that resonates for freedom and independence for all of America, and those are exactly the qualities we want people to associate with the Forever stamp.” (Source)
Just something I noticed close to the post office holiday frenzy.

Kraken Rum
A trip to the grocery store led a party of four to discover Kraken Rum.
The purpose of this trip was not to buy rum, yet three out of four people ended up shelling out $20+ for the bottle. One of those individuals drinks rum only every once in a while, another individual does not drink rum, and the third does not drink alcohol at all.
They all liked the octopus graphics and the bottle...

Treehugger has a post about a UK charity named National Trust preferring that their employees pee in the compost pile to save water and add nutrients to the compost.
But gender segregation is alive and well in the National Trust’s toilet policies—the pee bale is strictly for men only. And it’s not just about the mechanical logistics of peeing outside, or preserving staff members’...

LA, take note!
breakfast on the bridge 2009 by æ
Last month on a weekend, the Sydney Harbour Bridge was closed off and carpeted with fake grass to accommodate 6,000 people. They were going to have a breakfast picnic. Amazing!
The Breakfast on the Bridge event was actually part of Crave Sydney, a food/art/outdoors type of festival lasting the whole month. It made me think of Park[ing] Day LA, swapping cars...

100 kisses in Paris
Yan Yaqing is a Taiwanese student studying music in France, but she’s becoming much more well known for her project—kissing 100 men in Paris. She is accompanied by a photographer who documents each smooch. Some of the photos are on her blog.
I love the photos because of the scenes surrounding the kiss and how each kiss is different. Can’t wait to see all 100 when she is done!
Some...

There’s a great article in Wired on the incorrectly concluded idea of vaccines causing autism.
If two things coexist, the brain often tells us, they must be related. Some parents of autistic children noticed that their child’s condition began to appear shortly after a vaccination. The conclusion: “The vaccine must have caused the autism.” Sounds reasonable, even though, as many scientists...

Dear Clients...
This is really basic, but I’ve been saying this in emails and phone calls far too often.
“ASAP” is not a deadline. ASAP easily becomes As Long As It Takes or As Soon As I Please. Because there is no set date, nobody ever marks this on their calendar. Unless there is a real date from which we can work backward and figure out the due dates along the way, the project will never be...

Tanuki = Tom Nook?
I also seemed to have missed that Tom Nook, the store owner in Animal Crossing, is very likely a tanuki. A comment on Flickr made that connection, and it makes a lot of sense. I can’t find anything official on this, and the tanuki reference in Wikipedia’s Tom Nook bit has been removed, and thus also the footnote reference, so I can’t be 100% sure.
I wish Nintendo would release...

The New York Times app
So much better than the actual site. Why? Because you don’t have to log in like you do at the site and, frankly, the log in is full of bugs. Also, you can save your favorite articles.

Hitachino Nest Beer
I did a double take at Whole Foods while passing by the alcohol aisle. I haven’t seen animals on any sort of beer packaging very often, so the owl on the Hitachino Nest Beer caught my eye.
Some history (via Cool Hunting):
Kiuchi Brewery has made sake in Japan since 1823. With a change in brewing laws they were able to launch their first microbrew beer in 1996, the highly lauded JCA,...
