Tomorrow: Vote (and bring a camera)!
I hope everyone votes tomorrow. I don’t want to sound like a public service announcement, but it’s so important to vote, especially considering the state of our world, country, or state. Tomorrow will be my second time voting (ever!) and my first time voting local, but I wish I voted more often in the last few years.
I used to think that my one tiny little vote didn’t matter, but it does. Hanging chads, questionable foreign policy, and the lack of funding have changed my mind. Even if you are voting for the underdog, you should still vote.
And bring a camera. I got an email from the AIGA about the Polling Place Photo Project, which is encouraging voters to photograph their polling place, and share their images. I think they want a photo of every voting place in America. It’s quite a lofty goal, and I’m interested to see what happens.
Reading the fine print, it says that it’s illegal in California to even photograph voters going in and out of their voting place. I’m not sure if that is referring to the inner voting places, such as curtained booths, or if it’s referring to the voting places in general, such as a church or school. I’ll have to figure this one out as I go.
