The slow (and sad) death of handwriting
There’s an interesting article from the BBC News Magazine on the decreasing importance of handwriting in our technological world. Just the other day, I was thinking about how it strange it felt returning to school in the fall and writing with a pencil, having not done much writing at all over the summer. My handwriting would scrawl across the page with unease until I picked up the rhythm and fluidity of script again.
These days, most of my handwriting opportunities require fast note-taking, jotting down notes over the phone. It ends up looking like crap. The thought of kids today not able to descipher their grandparents’ handwriting is quite sad (and makes me want to practice my penmanship).
(Thanks, Eric!)
